Kami: Nature Spirit is inspired by the Japanese Shinto religion that honours, respects and reveres nature in all its forms. In Shinto, every aspect of nature is said to have a spirit or "Kami" residing in it and therefore is something to be protected and preserved. My interpretation is created from composite photography and lots of digital painting techniques. It is a piece that was very nearly scrapped but I found the energy and inspiration to return to it. My "Kami" is in fact a Buddha statue that was photographed and then digitally altered to suggest a spirit entity. The woodland backdrop was from my own stock photography and I blended the two images together to create the template for my piece. Lots of digital painting techniques and digital effects were then blended and layered to create the final piece. My "Kami" takes centre stage in this piece, sitting in a "shrine" formed by the canopy of trees and nature all around it.
This is a true statement piece that measure 73 x 122 cm so therefore a very large canvas! I anticipate that it will be ideal for meditation spaces, alternative therapy spaces, yoga studios etc. Or for something more unusual to hang at home where some spiritual energy and vibe is required perhaps to help uplift and energise a dull space! The canvas comes with a signed certificate and I have also signed the piece digitally in the bottom right corner of the artwork. No more canvas prints will be made in this size.
